| On our honeymoon in in Nassau, the Bahamas, September 1974,
my wife and I dined several times at the Cafe Martinique, Paradise Island, Nassau,
Bahamas. This was the same restaurant
enjoyed by Sean Connery as James Bond in "Thunderball" -- the exact same table.
I even had "a martini, stirred, not shaken". We became friends with Lucky, the Matre'd.
He invited us to go with him and his crew in Gombay, the local carnival.
We loved the cuizine at the cafe and the drinks, especially the Gombay Smash
and the Yellow Bird, also in the recipes.
Lucky wrote down the formula for us on a subsequent trip
and I share it here. See Lucky's original note at the bottom. |
Gombay Smash
1 1/2 oz light Rum
3 oz pineapple juice
1/4 oz lemon juice
3/4 oz coconut rum
1 dash (2 oz) of simple syrup
Combine above ingredients, shake well, and serve in a tall glass with ice.
